Pagan Phoenix is very pleased to announce that we will be promoting a film season during
November 2022 entitled Season Of The Witch in association with Plymouth Arts Cinema, and
supported by the British Film Institute.
This season of films will look at changing images of witches and witchcraft on film over the years: the
witch as magical practitioner, Pagan priestess, alluring temptress, feminist hero, “othered” victim and much more. It will include favourite classics and new releases; feature films, shorts and treasures from the archives. We hope to include rarely seen archive film of Cecil Williamson (founder of the Museum of Witchcraft) along with Tom Chick’s new film, Fire Spells, and work by local filmmakers. All screenings will be introduced by expert speakers and there will be opportunities for questions and discussion. There will also be a programme of talks and workshops offering practical skills and crafts.
All screenings will take place at Plymouth Arts Cinema at Arts University Plymouth, Tavistock Place, Plymouth PL4 8AT. Screenings will take place on Thursday evenings, and talks workshops on Saturdays.
The full programme and details of tickets will be announced very soon.
Watch this space for further details, and we hope to see you there.
